Meet the Mini Athletics Central Texas Team
Hi, I'm Shelbi, Franchisee of Mini Athletics Central Texas. As a lifelong athlete, educator, coach, and mom, helping children build confidence through movement has always been at the heart of everything I do.
I earned a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology (Motor Behavior/Exercise Science) from Texas A&M University, where I worked with the university's Track & Field program, followed by a Master's degree in Sport & Recreation Management from Indiana State University. I went on to spend years serving students and families as a teacher and coach. As a coach at the youth and high school level I began to recognize many children were arriving in organized sports without the fundamental movement skills or confidence needed to truly enjoy them.
Then I found Mini Athletics.
I was immediately blown away because I had never seen anything like it but knew this was the missing link. It is a program that truly understands how young children move, play, and learn. Everything about Mini Athletics aligned with what I had seen throughout my career: children learn best through play, encouragement, imagination, and positive movement experiences. I knew Central Texas families deserved access to something this special.
Today, my coaches and I are passionate about creating an environment where every child feels successful from day one. Whether they're running, jumping, balancing, throwing, or simply learning to participate with others, our goal is to help every Mini Athlete develop confidence, physical literacy, and a genuine love for being active that lasts a lifetime.
Serving children doesn't stop when classes end. I have been honored to volunteer with local youth sports organizations, serving on community sports boards and helping provide quality athletic opportunities for families throughout Central Texas. Giving back to the community is something I value deeply, and I believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience the friendships, confidence, and life lessons that sports and movement can provide.
When I'm not coaching or running Mini Athletics, you'll usually find me supporting local youth sports, spending time with my family, or cheering on young athletes as they discover what they're capable of.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. I can't wait to meet you and your Mini Athlete and help your family begin a fun-filled journey of movement, confidence, and lifelong healthy habits.
